Leave me alone Mr. Trainer

Trainers at my gym have gotten out of control. I’ve been trying to build muscle lately finally getting over the hype of… pretty much everyone that cutting calories is the way to look better. I’ve had enough “thin days” full of flabby skin and lethargic energy. So with this new diet I’m on I’m supposed to be consuming 3700 calories a day. I eat and eat and still struggle to hit that goal. It’s a problem I’m loving to have.

At any rate, I was approached by one of the personal trainers at the gym I goto which shall remain nameless. On an unrelated note: LA FItness. These trainers are more luck vultures. They wait for someone’s self-esteem to die then peck at it’s eyes until there’s nothing left but fleshy delicious meat for them to feast on.

I have never used a personal trainer. This is because I’ve seen tons of other people using them at the gym. They kinda just stand around and say “gimmie one more!” and other such slogans that sometimes rhyme. Now don’t get me wrong because I’m sure there are many trainers out there that actually care about their clients, but these seem to care more about their client’s wallets.

I also can’t stand their rhyming. Unless you’re a Dr. of children’s books just don’t do it. This one guy trying to get me to hire him said upon hearing my opinion that dieting can be dangerous if done too extreme said “If it doesn’t make a sound, you won’t gain a pound.” What? What makes a sound? I don’t get it.

Alas, I still have no idea what he was talking about as I rushed away from him as fast as humanly possible. Which wasn’t very fast given how out of shape I am and I had to take a couple water breaks.

I hope you learned nothing from reading this.

Another great open mic @ The Grindhouse

Despite the crowd dwindling towards the end of the show, I still had a great time at the Tuesday Grindhouse open mic (1051 N Havenhurst Dr West Hollywood, CA).  I had been going for a while to the Wednesday open mic at the same spot, and that still may be my favorite in Los Angeles (though Tribal Cafe Sunday nights is pretty epic).

Anyhow. It’s a great mic and they’re adding a Thursday one, so I’ll check that out too. Great spot and available Tues/Wed/Thurs. This sounds like a commercial at this point so I’ll STFU, but if you’re looking for a spot to add to one of these nights, check it out.

I finally wokeup and smelled the tumblr. For my first post I’d like to share this recent video of myself doing standup…comedy. Seems silly to specify the comedy part, perhaps a bit redundant even and yet…here we are.
